www.survivalboards.com www.survivalistboards.com Instead of using candles or kerosene lanterns, consider picking up some solar powered lights. The lights I just bought are replacing some that my wife and I had bought several years ago.

Another option is to wear Night Vision Goggles
You are better off getting one of those motion detection lamps that are for out side and are solar powdered . They are more powerful and they turn off and don’t waste battery life. also they have bigger solar panels. You could even splice in a car battery trickle charger solar cell as its even bigge.
@astrialkil – very good suggestion, thank you
Crank Flash lights are really Good I have a bunch.
Yeah, I thought that at first too…. but you can’t take the motion detector lights in and out easily… if you were savy with electronics mayber you could wire a solar panel on the outside with the light on the inside, that’s a great idea… but I’m not that great with electronics and his idea is portable so I like his idea until I learn more about wiring
Keep some charged AA batteries for when you don’t have enough sun to charge these. Just change it out and the next sunny day recharge them all.
SB,no offence but this is totally ineffcient . why not just buy quality rechargables and a good solarpanel/charger then use a quality LED lighting option . these garden lights are crap(bad batteries and bad panels) . those LED candles are better quality and give off better defused lighting . string of LED xmas lites will run forever off a car battery and give off more light then you’ll ever need inside
@crabtrap – First of all, my name is Kevin. survivalistboards is the name of the website.
Second of all – good suggestion.
i didn’t figure “suvivalboards” was your Christian name smartguy ; )
@crabtrap – Are you a member of the survivalist boards forum?
Negative . I basicly just wonder the Earth deciphering good preparedness info from bad . I’m happy to say your info is
on the good side . yankeeprepper on the other hand …… horrible
cool idea
at that price its a total rip-off… all of the components can be had on ebay for $1.50
I hung the rest in trees around the garden. I put fishing swivel snaps with highly polished S.S. 1″ wide twisted like a noodle to run deer and rabbits off! During the day it runs the birds out! 300 yards back from the house on our ponderosa it looks like fire’s! something ZEN about fires that every living creature respect’s! Peace!

Well Now!
I thought I was dumb! LOL!
I just bought 6 set’s of 8 wally’s best amber solar yard light’s @ 28.00 a set with free shipping! What I done is to put a shit load around the yard to set the pup’s out at night to do their business.
Perfect Idea when the power goes out! Also learned why my current floods dont stay on as long after he stated the batteries could be upgraded. Thanks for these interesting and informative videos.
Your battery is not a renewable source either. And just because you replace your battery with higher mAH one, you haven’t shown that your cell has enough capacity to charge it up. It’s like trying to put water in a bucket from the trickle of a hose – just because you use a larger bucket, doesn’t mean you collect more water if the trickle on the hose stays the same. You bought a very cheap product, expect it to provide something equally as cheap.
Excellent idea works perfect
A nice cheap way of doing things though a bit of a pain for indoor use.
Got to keep outside to charge then bring inside during a storm or whatever
Better off just having flashlights for short term outages.
Or if you wanna go the extra mile, getting a real solar panel with price’s going down and plenty of subsidies to lower the cost even more. Then you can use your normal lights
+ Fridge + radio/tv/computer to keep updated on news
Dollar Tree is doing a sell on these, obviously a dollar each. Now I am sure it is cheap lighting, but just figured i would give that bit of info. It’s a good idea.
GREAT JOB! I started doing this.but they work WAY better if you take off the clear plastic part and turn them upside down with the light bulb pointed to the ceiling.
IT makes an awesome nightlight in a kids room too,and a good way to teach them about saving our mother Earth.
Thanks for the video! I just wanted to suggest any vase or jar filled with sand or gravel as a base for the solar lamps.
Very good idea thankyou for a great plane…..God Bless the true American’s
